Keeping our community safe when swimming, fishing and boating
Royal Life Saving Australia needed to reach diverse communities for its Easter Water Safety Campaign. With two consecutive public holiday long weekends, many people travel to be with friends and family. More than one-third of people who drown are more than 50km away from home at the time and in the summer of 2021, almost one-fifth of drownings occurred on public holidays. The campaign needed to reach at-risk communities and communicate key water safety information.
LOTE carried out targeted engagement with communities via social media groups, stakeholder pack distribution, media releases and in-person engagement. Throughout the campaign planning phase, LOTE was able to advise how best to navigate potential issues such as social media admin approval, feed algorithms, shops refusing to participate in the campaign and personal relevance.
