The Department of Jobs, Skills, Industry and Regions (DJSIR) embarked on a critical mission to communicate the Sick Pay Guarantee initiative to multicultural communities in a manner that ensured equity in communications. Many individuals within these communities lacked easy access to information related to sick pay benefits, placing them at a disadvantage. DJSIR recognised the urgent need to bridge this information gap and make essential details accessible to all.
In response to this challenge, DJSIR engaged LOTE to effectively communicate the Sick Pay Guarantee initiative across 14 languages: Arabic, Assyrian, Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional), Dari, Dinka, Greek, Italian, Khmer, Punjabi, Sinhalese, Somali, Turkish, and Vietnamese. The following key components were part of the solution:
language quality checks ensured accurate and culturally sensitive translations, promoting understanding and trust.
professionally typeset and formatted, considering linguistic nuances and cultural preferences to ensure clarity and appeal.• Urgency: recognising the time sensitivity of the initiative, the project was executed with a strong focus on delivering the translated materials promptly, making sure that the information reached the communities when they needed it the most.
The DJSIR - Sick Pay Guarantee Initiative achieved remarkable success in delivering equitable access to crucial information. By translating and typesetting the materials in 14 languages, DJSIR ensured that multicultural communities would gain awareness of, and could easily comprehend and act upon the Sick Pay Guarantee initiative.
